It’s All In The Name

They say “knowing is half the battle”, right?
Well in fantasy sports, to me having a cool team name is half the battle.
Honest to God, I feel like I try harder and my teams maybe even play better when I’m proud of my team name that year.
I know some people like to keep the same team name every year, mostly for tradition. But me? I like to switch it up every year and get as creative, and as fun, as I can.
So with fantasy baseball right around the corner, I realized it was about that time to put the thinking cap back on it and come up with a goody for this year.
I decided to seek out the help of a friend who I consider to be, if nothing else, witty (@APMValle if you want to find him and stalk him) and thought we could bounce some ideas off each other using Nats related fantasy names.
Some are old and have been used many times over, I know. But I think we came up with some good ones- and hopefully soon I’ll be able to decide between our favorites.
Our current top 5:
“Denard Span-gled Banner”
Represent baseball, represent the Nats and represent the United States. Win-win-win.
“Eury Duty”
A tribute to Nats speed specialist Eury Perez and also to one of my personal favorite movies of all time, 12 Angry Men.
“Skole of Hard Knocks”
Boom- a Nats player reference that makes perfect sense in baseball terms. What’s not to like?
“The NeverEnding Storen”
Not meant to be as fitting as it seems, I promise.
“I am Stras-en-burg”
Any fans of the show Breaking Bad will understand, and most likely enjoy, this reference to the ex-chemistry teacher turned drug lord, Walter White.
